About Us

The North East Sleep Alliance is a sleep service which is currently delivered across the Tees Valley and Sunderland. The service is co-delivered by the Family Support Team at Daisy Chain and the 0-19 Health Service. In Sunderland the service is additionally supported by trained Family Hubs practitioners.

Our team

All practitioners receive sleep counselling training by Sleep Action. Their sleep counsellor training is highly regarded and gives practitioners a thorough understanding of sleep processes, the range of sleep issues that children and young people may experience and the knowledge and skills to teach parents and carers techniques on how to manage these sleep issues.

Please note that our service is not provided by, or affiliated to, Sleep Action. We use their resources and deliver an independent programme based on their training model. Families within our Localities would not be eligible for Sleep Actions sleep services directly.

How is the service delivered?

The service is delivered using a tiered approach of support:

  • Initial registration call
  • Following the above call parents/carers would have access to Tier 1
  • Tier 1: access to resources, advice and information about sleep.
  • Tier 2: parent sleep support training sessions, delivered face to face within the local area, alongside 1:1 telephone support. This tier is accessible following tier 1.
  • Tier 3: 1:1 sleep assessment and possible inclusion of a bespoke sleep plan.

How do I access the service?

You can access the service if you meet the eligibility criteria. There are three criteria that all need to be met:

  1. Child is aged between 2.5 – 18 years old (Tees Valley) and 3.5 – 18 years old (Sunderland).
  2. Live in the following council areas: Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Darlington and Sunderland. To live in these areas is to pay your Council Tax to the local authority.
  3. Have an long-term health or development need which has been identified by a professional who has worked with the child.
